A graduate research scholarship is available for a highly talented PhD students who is technically skilled with a strong organic chemistry background. The successful students will work with a diverse group of researchers including chemists, pharmacologists and botanists. Application procedure:
You have to fill in an electronic application form, which can only be accessed during an open Call! The e-form can only be submitted ONCE, so please make sure that your application is complete before submitting it!!!

When using the e-form, you will have to upload the following documents:
- a letter of application, motivating your application,
- a copy of your passport
- a CV, also indicating relevant work experience as intern or as employee: Please use the europass CV form available at https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/home
- an academic transcript from your last university,
- certified copies of all academic certificates (in case that the graduation only takes place after the deadline expired, please submit a letter from the respective authorities of your university, certifying that you will graduate until end of 2019).
- an academic reference and if applicable a professional reference. In case that referees want to send the reference independently, they should send it to info.uwc@cdr-sa.org, indicating the applicant's name.
- MA applicants will have to write a one page paper about certain given topics (in the e-form). Below you find the topics of the last Call:
1 Write critical notes on how inequality can be measured. What do you regard as the causes of inequality in your country?
2 What are the prospects for a successful Developmental State model in any African country of your choice?
3 What do you see as the root causes of migration? How can these be addressed?
Attention:
Of course we screen all essays with an anti-plagiarism software and in case that an essay is only copy pasted from available literature the application is not eligible!!!
Please prepare as well
- A certified copy of your identification document
- A certified copy of your matric certificate
- Certificates and transcripts that are in another language other than English or Afrikaans must be submitted together with an English translation thereof that has been certified by a Public Notary
- Any other documentation which may be required for admission to a specific programme

Applicants will be notified about the selection outcome around mid August.

- Tuition and Registration fees are covered by the Scholarship.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held about 2 weeks after the espiration of the application deadline, either face-to-face or telephonically or via Skype. Please ensure that you will be available during this period if contacted for an interview. All applicants will be informed about their applications within 4-6 weeks after the expriation of the application deadline.

How it works
On a monthly basis, new applications to the program are extracted from the inventory and sorted based on education and the candidates’ choice of organization as indicated in the submitted application. Each organization is responsible for contacting candidates for further assessment.
How to Apply:
- Interested Candidates must have completed Master's degree in a recognized institution.
- Participants have to register themselves as postdoctoral research students in a Canadian Government Laboratories or research institutions. After that, they can apply for this wonderful opportunity through the online link.
- Supporting Documents: No additional documents are asked by the Organization but it can be asked by the research institute in which a student is applying.
- Admission Requirements: Successful candidates must have a doctoral degree in the field of natural science.
- Language Requirement: You should have good command in the English language.
